6th grade Supply List for 2014-2015

6th grade Supply List

Dear Parents,
 
 Welcome to the 2014-2015 school year  :
 
1. A two inch zipper binder
2. A package of subject dividers for the binder
   3.  A package of mechanical pencils with a supply of #7 or #9 leads  
4.  A protractor (may double as a ruler)
5. A large eraser
6. One large glue stick (Avery is a good brand that lasts)
7. A large box of colored pencils
8. A nylon pouch or small box for pencils
9. A yellow highlighter
10. One large ream of college ruled paper 
11. Two correcting pens (purple or green) 
12. Two boxes of Kleenex for the classroom 
13. Two dry erase markers 
14. Children's scissors
 15.  $20.00**
 
** The $20.00 fee is for additional supplies utilized throughout the school year.  These items include a school planner, art supplies, spiral notebooks, portfolios, composition books, additional mechanical pencils, dry erase markers, highlighters, and pens. Field trips will be charged as they occur.
 
We are looking forward to the start of a new school year and working with your child in the sixth grade.

SWAS 5/6th grade Supply List for 2014-2015

5th/6th Whitehead SWAS

     Supply List 2014-2015

 

Each student will need to provide the following:

____backpack

____3 composition style books - college ruled (9 ¾ in x 7 ½ in)

____1 composition style book – graph paper (9 ¾ in x 7 ½ in)

____1 spiral notebook (college ruled)

____3 sets of 5 notebook dividers

____a 2-inch, 3 ring, clear view binder

____USB flash/jump drive on a lanyard for saving personal work

____1 ream white copy paper

____1 box of tissues

____water bottle to keep at seat (optional)

____for 6th grade students only – it is recommended that the students have their own Casio FX-9750-GII graphing calculator.  This is something they will use from this level on in their mathematical education.

____Additional money for field trips and special projects will be collected at a later date.

 

Our classrooms will have the necessary materials available for the students to share and use as needed.  However, if you would like to contribute to our class supply of general school materials, please donate as you feel you are able.  

 

Below is a wish list of items that would benefit our classrooms.  Your donation would be greatly appreciated.

6th grade celebration

Hundreds of family members filled the cafeteria to show their love and support for our 6th grade students .
One student from each 6th grade classroom was chosen to read a memory  that he or she wrote about their time at Whitehead. These three students showed their writing and speaking talents . Well done !

6th graders and families watched a slide show that helped them remember all of the great things they have done and learned this school year !

Thanks to Mrs.Squires, Mrs.Hainline, Mrs. Cameron and Mr.Culbert our super 6th grade teachers for a great year !

Kindergarten Celebration

Families filled the cafeteria to celebrate our Kindergarten students and the end of a great school year.

Ms.Anderson our music teacher worked hard with our Kinder musicians and they put on a great musical show for the families. 
Standing room only , so much love and support in the room , thank you parents and family members.

JWES Citizens of the Year


20 Whitehead students were recognized this morning, 1 from each homeroom. They are chosen based on the consistent choice to follow Whale Behaviors throughout the school year at all times.
Congratulations, it's been a whale of a year ! 

$9,092.00 raised at JWES and hundreds of laps run !!

The student in each classroom who ran the most laps during the jog a Thon won a medal and school wide recognition. What great runners !


The top lap runner in each grade has his /her name engraved on a plaque that will hang in the main hallway of the school for all to see. 



The student in each classroom who brought in the most donations won a pizza party and school wide recognition.
All total we raised $ 9,092.00 !! 
Way to go !! 

The top fund raisers in the school each received a gift card to either Scheels or Toys R Us. Have fun shopping !

JWES 3rd graders receive gifts

Mr. Ross from the Sparks Rotary visited Whitehead with a dictionary gift for each 3 rd grade student. 


Each year the Sparks Rotary gives a dictionary to every 3rd grade student in the WCSD. A great gift and resource to have as a learner. 


The students spend time with Mr.Ross learning about the dictionary and all the ways it can be helpful.




Granite Store Reading winners


This week we had our second Granite Reading  Store for the year . Students earn granite bucks for Reading each week throughout the semester. They can use the bucks to by little toys and treats. We end the granite store with a raffle and the winners of the raffle won a gift card to either Scheels or Sundance Books.
